3 South & Banana is the musical moniker of Berlin-based, France-born singer, songwriter, musician and producer Aurélien Bernard. His debut EP, Rooftop Trees, was released on 1st March 2019. Bernard previously played in the European art-pop-psychedelic troupe CAIROBI. In collaboration with visual artist Tartaruga Feliz they created a new kind of immersive virtual live performance.
Combining an increasingly distinctive knack for surrealist narratives, and super catchy lofi pop, Aurélien cites the main musical influences for Rooftop Trees as Syd Barrett, Ariel Pink and the classic album Here Come The Warm Jets by Brian Eno.
Some Other Planet records was launched to release the music of Vadoinmessico and then Cairobi, and they’ve recently released the new album, Cliffhanger, from Japanese musician Grimm Grimm. Some Other Planet is run by Salvador Garza Fishburn, who also co-produced and mixed the 3 South & Banana EP.
